Suggest a New Item for Our Collection!
We love hearing from you! Your suggestions are one of the best ways we can ensure our collection reflects the interests and needs of the Dickinson Area Public Library community.
Why Your Suggestions Matter
The purpose of collection suggestions is simple: to allow our patrons to directly share their interests with us. Every suggestion you submit is valuable! Even suggestions that don't get filled serve an important role in the collection development process by offering our acquisitions staff direct insights into what the community is looking for.
How the Suggestion Process Works
Ready to share your idea? Please use this form to suggest material for the Dickinson Area Public Library to add to its collection.
Here's a breakdown of what happens after you hit submit:
- Review: Your collection suggestion is reviewed by the acquisitions staff responsible for purchasing that specific type of material (e.g., adult fiction, children's books, DVDs).
- Policy Check: We make sure your request conforms with the Collection Development Policy passed by our library board. This policy guides all of our purchasing decisions.
- Purchase Decision: If your suggestion meets the criteria set by our board and our budget allows, your suggestion will be purchased.
- Hold Notification (Optional): If you've elected to have your item placed on hold within the collection suggestion form, we will contact you when the item is available for pickup.
*Please note: This will only happen if you explicitly elect to place the item on hold in your collection suggestion.
Important Notes and Follow-Up

- Holds: Filling out this form does not mean you will be automatically put on hold for this item unless you specifically request it on the form.
- Limit: Patrons can submit a total of five collection suggestions per month.
- Follow Up: If you wish to check on the status of your collection suggestion, please contact the library during our business hours at 701-456-7700.
