You can request an application for an absentee ballot using the links below. You must print, sign and deliver the absentee application to the appropriate election official. If you submit an application requesting an absentee ballot, you may receive and return your ballot by mail.

The steps of voting by absentee are:
- Simply answer the questions provided and print out the form generated.
- Sign and date the form and send to your city auditor or appropriate election official at the address given. If needed, include a copy of the qualifying supplemental documentation verifying your new residential address or the alternative ID for voting provided by a tribal government in North Dakota.
- Your identification will be verified and your ballot will be sent to you. Mark the ballot with your choices and return it to the city auditor no later than the day before the Election Day.

How do I vote absentee?
Applications for absentee ballots may be picked up in person or mailed to City Hall, City of Dickinson, 38 1st Street West, Dickinson, ND 58601. Certain overseas military personnel and citizens may also receive and return voted ballots by mail or email according to North Dakota law. For more information, please contact the Secretary of State’s office or visit their website.
According to North Dakota law, absentee ballots are to be made available by the 40th day before the election. Absentee ballots must be received by close of polls on election day (August 18, 2025).
- Absentee ballots may be made available to those who:
- Are qualified electors wishing to vote absentee prior to the date of the election;
- Are members of the armed forces of the United States;
- Are members of the merchant marine;
- Are physically disabled
In North Dakota, qualified electors are not required to provide a reason when requesting an application to vote absentee.
To apply for an absentee ballot an applicant must first obtain an application for the absentee ballot from the City of Dickinson, City Hall, ND Secretary of State website, Stark County Website, or City of Dickinson website.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Your absentee ballot application must be received at City Hall to provide ample time for the Election Officer to mail the absentee ballot. The Election Officer in Charge recommends the application be received by no later than Tuesday August 12, 2025.
