Project Find Safe is a grant project of the Minot State University to spearhead the national Project LifeSaver initiatives with North Dakota agencies. The programs equip agencies with training and technology to assist in locating “at risk” individuals prone to the life-threatening behavior of wandering. The technology can outfit a known “at risk” citizen with a condition such as dementia, Alzheimer’s, or autism with a wristwatch-style worn transmitter. Law enforcement is then trained and equipped with a locator device. If the citizen wanders off, law enforcement can be called to use the technology to find the citizen quicker than traditional search and rescue methods.
