The Planning Department is responsible for shaping our City and for the properties situated outside the city limits, but within the City’s Extra-territorial Areas, while balancing the needs of development and the community at-large. It is the mission of the department to provide a responsive, accurate, and high quality public service department.
The Planning Department is responsible for the City’s full range of long-range and current planning, zoning, land use development, and subdivision planning. This involves working with the public, commissions and boards, including the City Commission and Planning and Zoning Commission. Additionally, a planner is assigned to Stark County to perform planning-related duties.
